The intellectual property practice group of the Firm counsels a wide range of clients on how to recognize, register, enforce and commercially exploit their valuable intellectual property ranging from trademarks, patents, copyrights, domain names, designs to trade secrets and confidential information.
The intellectual property practice of the Firm includes prosecution and registration of intellectual property at all registries in India. In order to address client requirements in the area of patents, certain members of our Intellectual Property team have strong science background and are registered patent agents.
The Firm handles trademark and patent portfolios for clients in various industries. The Firm has also assisted clients in planning patent strategies and conducting patent and brand audits. The Firm has also advised its clients on matters relating to patent validity, prior art searches and patent landscaping, patent infringement, patent licensing, and conducting due diligence exercises on proposed acquisitions when required.
The Firm protects its clients’ intellectual property by undertaking contentious proceedings before the tribunals, High Courts and other Courts in India. The Firm has successfully protected trademark rights of clients by initiating actions against cyber-squatters in relation to several top level domain names. The Firm also regularly advises clients in the areas of trademarks, trade dress, copyright, patents, designs, plant varieties, advertising laws, data protection and trade secrets. The Firm renders advice and frames strategies for passing off, infringement and anti-piracy actions.
The Firm also has a strong intellectual property transactional practice that includes drafting, negotiating and advising its clients on licensing, co-branding, franchising, intellectual property acquisitions and technology transfers.
