MICROFINANCE

The Firm and its members have advised a diverse range of market participants involved in the microfinance space including banks, microfinance institutions (whether organised as NBFCs or otherwise) ("MFIs"), multilateral investors, offshore and onshore funds, investment banks and advisors. The Firm has advised on the entire lifecycle of an MFI from its inception to growth, IPO and listing as well as their transition to a bank. The Firm also advised on some of the biggest MFI listings in India. The Firm has been closely involved in structuring products and investments in the MFI space. The Firm has also advised MFIs on putting in place appropriate structures for raising funding and for scaling up their operations.
The Firm has also advised banks and financial institutions as well as MFIs in respect of securitization of portfolio assets of MFIs backed by credit enhancement. The Firm has also advised on some innovative funding structures including NCD issuances, securitization and risk participation structures undertaken by MFIs.
The Firm has demonstrated thought leadership and has been involved in efforts for legislative and regulatory reform relating to the microfinance sector.
